An average cavity or inlay preparation takes approximately 12-13 minutes. Two or three instruments are mainly used for the purpose of caries excavation, preparation and a round bur for the cavity floor. The instrument change and the renewed alignment of the instrument costs time. The InPrep (Innovative Preparation) combines all three instruments in one. The InPrep instrument has an inactive surface in the centre, which extends one hundredth of a millimetre above the diamond coating. This prevents undesired preparation in the deeper areas. Pulp exposure can thus be prevented, even with the thinnest dentine. The KR taper, modified shoulder, safety surface and 6° angle creates the scientifically recommended cavity. The customised, highly precise and required preparation depth is attained using a gentle stroking motion.
InPrep diamond burs are available in packs of 5.
